LEE COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) — A woman was arrested in Lee County Monday, Jan. 26 following a Jan. 14 wrong-way car crash that killed a mother and two of her children.
Sherita Goddard was accused of driving under the influence in the wrong-way crash on US-82.

Goddard was arrested by the Lee County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO). She now faces the following charges, according to the sheriff’s office:
- Homicide by Vehicle in First Degree (3 counts)
- Endangering a Child by Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol or Drugs
- Cruelty to Children 2nd Degree (felony)
- Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol or Drugs
- Driving on Wrong Side of Roadway
- Safety Belt Required
- Open Container
32-year-old Bernerdine Spann, 13-year-old Ja’Leah Spann, and 7-year-old Jaxton Spann all died from injuries they sustained in the crash. Goddard’s daughter, who investigators say was in the vehicle with Goddard when she was driving, was also injured in the crash. The nature of her injuries has not been reported.
