EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — A 40-year-old American woman was arrested Wednesday at the Paso Del Norte border crossing after she was allegedly caught trying to smuggle a drug bundle hidden in her "lady parts."
According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection, 113 grams of fentanyl in a tightly packed bundle was pulled out of the vagina of an American woman who was reportedly trying to smuggle the drugs walking through the port of entry in Downtown El Paso.
CBP said that at around 3 a.m., as the 40-year-old woman was being inspected, she allegedly told officers she had a "foreign object" in her body.
After the confession CBP explained that the woman was taken to a medical facility where medical staff retrieved the bundle of fentanyl from her vagina.
According to CBP, the woman was then returned to the Paso Del Norte bridge, where she was arrested and handed over to Homeland Security Investigations to face federal charges for the failed drug smuggling attempt.

The arrest comes as CBP said it has seen a "dramatic" rise in these types of smuggling attempts, which they say pose a danger to the carrier's health.
"This is kind of new for us to see this amount of an increase in internal carriers, especially because it’s such a dangerous way to smuggle it across. If one of those packages were to burst inside of them, it’s probably instant death," CBP Officer Michael Salvatti said, adding that it is like a "deadly game of Russian roulette."
