Description
WORTH COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) - The three teenagers and two neighbors who rescued a man trapped under an ATV in a pond in Worth County on Friday, Oct. 17, were awarded by the Worth County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office presented the Citizen Life Saving Award to Bentley Culpepper, 14, Colt Hartsfield, 15, and Griffin McDonald, 16, as well as Glenn Creamer and Zach Whitman.
The award says the following:
“In grateful recognition of your extraordinary courage and selfless actions in a sudden and life threatening emergency. Your bravery reflects the highest ideals of community service and stands as an inspiring example to others.”
WALB previously reported that George Etheredge was spraying weeds on an ATV when he hit a stump, causing the ATV to flip with nearly 1,000 pounds on top of him, pinning him in the pond. He was trapped for 30 minutes with only his mouth and nose above water.
The teens heard Etheredge screaming for help and ran over without hesitation. They called a neighbor to help get the ATV off of Etheredge.
Etheredge now calls them his “God-sent angels.”
