CORDELE, Ga. (WALB) - Crisp County is set to see a major economic boost as Governor Brian Kemp announced that Yancey Engineered Solutions will invest $5.7 million in a new manufacturing facility in Cordele, creating 300 new jobs over the next several years.

The Georgia-based engineering and manufacturing company will renovate the former Big Tex manufacturing facility located on South Midway Road. The expansion is expected to create employment opportunities for welders, quality control technicians, assembly workers and drivers.

Governor Kemp said the project will provide new opportunities for workers in Crisp County while supporting economic growth across Georgia.

Yancey Engineered Solutions, a division of Yancey Bros. Company, specializes in power generation packaging systems. Company leaders said the Cordele facility will help meet growing demand in the industries they serve while adding new jobs in the local community.

Local leaders welcomed the announcement, highlighting the redevelopment of the former Big Tex site and the potential to rehire former employees. Crisp County officials said the investment reflects ongoing economic development efforts aimed at attracting new industry and expanding job opportunities for residents.

The project was developed through a partnership involving the Cordele-Crisp Industrial Development Authority, Crisp County Power Commission, Georgia Quick Start and the Georgia Department of Economic Development.
