COFFEE COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) - Two people were arrested on Thursday, Oct. 16 in Coffee County after reportedly “train hopping.” The individuals are from New Hampshire, according to the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO).
Jacob Cuvellier, 21, and Charles August Rowe, 18, were spotted by a CSX conductor on Thursday, CCSO said.
Cuvellier and Rowe left the train near the Sinkhole Road crossing in Coffee County and fled into a wooded area, according to a press release from CCSO. Deputies located the pair after a brief search, the sheriff’s office said.
Cuvellier and Rowe were then taken to the Coffee County Pre-Trial Detention Center.
They were each charged by the CSX with criminal trespassing and hiding on a train for the purpose of stealing a ride, CCSO said. Those are both misdemeanor offenses in Georgia.
