VALDOSTA, Ga. (WALB) – The Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) is alerting residents about a phone scam targeting local citizens.
Officials say callers are posing as LCSO deputies and demanding money, claiming that the victims have missed jury duty or committed a similar offense.
Authorities emphasize that this is a common scam used by criminals to obtain money or personal information. The sheriff’s office reminds the public that under no circumstances will deputies ever request payment or personal data over the phone.
Anyone with concerns or questions is urged to visit the sheriff’s office in person at 120 Prison Farm Road in Valdosta.
The LCSO encourages residents to stay vigilant and report any suspicious calls to local law enforcement to help prevent others from becoming victims of this ongoing scam.
