Description
ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) — Two people were killed and five others were injured in a crash on Aug. 12 involving a 15-passenger van in Dougherty County.

All seven occupants of the van were Cuban nationals, according to officials. An official with Turner Industries says the people were not employees of the plantation.

According to the county coroner’s office, it happened around 4:45 p.m. in the 2200 block of Wildfair Road. That’s near the intersection of Hard Up Road and County Line Road, not far from River Pointe Church.
“The two individuals seated in the front of the van were pronounced dead at the scene. The names and ages of the occupants are not available for release at this time.
Four occupants were transported to a local hospital for treatment. One sustained critical injuries, while the injuries of the other three are not believed to be life-threatening. The fifth surviving occupant was able to exit the vehicle with injuries that were not considered serious. Before first responders arrived, he assisted another occupant in getting out of the vehicle."

This is an active investigation; we will update this article as more information becomes available.
