Description

DECATUR COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) — A 3-year-old passenger was reportedly life-flighted Tuesday, Feb. 17, following a two-vehicle wreck in Decatur County. One driver was life-flighted along with the 3-year-old, and the other driver fled the scene, officials said.

The crash occurred at about 2:24 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Georgia Highway 1 and Edwards Road, according to the Georgia State Patrol (GSP).

GSP said that a gray 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer that was traveling west on Edwards Road failed to yield while crossing the southbound lanes of GA-1. As a result, the Chevrolet was struck by a black 2017 Kia Forte traveling south on GA-1, GSP said.

Both vehicles came to a rest in the ditch on the southwest side of the intersection, according to GSP.

Four occupants of the Kia were treated following the crash. GSP said the driver of the Kia and the 3-year-old passenger were life-flighted to Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare, and two other passengers of the Kia were transported by EMS for treatment.

The driver of the Chevrolet left the scene following the collision but was tracked and arrested, officials said. The identity of the Chevrolet driver is unknown at this time.
