ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) — Testimony began Tuesday, Feb. 17, in the trial of a Dougherty County woman accused of killing her ex-boyfriend, who was the father of eight children.

Jenna Colley is charged in the stabbing death of Ken Covin, with whom she shared two children. Police had responded to multiple domestic calls over a 10-year period dating back to 2014.

Colley is facing the following charges:

  • Felony Murder
  • Aggravated Assault - Family Violence
  • Possession of a Cutting Tool During the Commission of a Crime

According to Dougherty County District Attorney Greg Edwards, in March 2024, Colley showed up to Covin’s residence and demanded to be let inside. Edwards said while Covin didn’t want to let her in, he eventually did, and that’s when the arguing started.

During testimony, the court heard multiple 911 calls made by Covin.

One of those calls was dated Feb. 15, 2023:

“Yeah, [it’s] my baby mama. I ain’t about no— I ain’t know what I’m gonna do. I’m still not gonna try to have no confrontation with her, and she gone and bust out the window. I ain’t want her to get in trouble. I just want her to go,” Covin said in one of the calls.

Colby Webb, the paramedic who reportedly arrived on scene March 17, 2024, the day Covin died, testified that when he arrived, he found Covin’s body unresponsive with no pulse. Webb said there was blood and kitchen knives around Covin’s body, and that Colley was covered in blood as well.

The state plans to interview more witnesses when testimony resumes tomorrow, Wednesday, Feb. 18.
