LEE COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) - An 88-year-old man with dementia has died after being struck by a vehicle on Georgia Highway 91 in Lee County.

According to Georgia State Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 5:20 a.m. Saturday when William Barr was walking south in the left lane of GA Highway 91 wearing dark clothing.

A Toyota Camry traveling south in the same lane struck Barr with its front end and windshield. Barr died at the scene from his injuries.

The driver is not facing any charges at this time, according to GSP.

Barr’s family told investigators he was suffering from dementia.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the fatality and said Georgia State Patrol is leading the crash investigation.
