MITCHELL COUNTY, Ga. (WCTV) - Ensuring safety for all students and staff is what Mitchell County Schools is aiming to achieve with its new Board of Education Police Department.

The school district announced the establishment of the BOE Police Department in a social media post Saturday, calling it “a historic moment.”

The school district said the police department demonstrates the board’s “proactive approach to ensuring safe, securing learning environments for all students and staff while strengthening partnerships, accountability and trust” throughout the county.
