DOUGHERTY COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) — Following recent crashes involving school buses in Dougherty and Worth counties, officials are reminding people of steps to take to keep everyone safe this school year.

The crashes

On Wednesday, Aug. 5, a Dougherty County school bus was involved in a traffic accident. No students were on board.

The following day, on the morning of Aug. 6, a woman was driving northbound on GA 33 when she reportedly followed too closely and rear-ended a Worth County school bus.

With the new school year just beginning, this is already the second incident regarding school bus safety.

Officials’ response
