ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - An Albany man is facing drug trafficking and weapons charges after a routine traffic stop Sunday night led officers to a stolen firearm and methamphetamine, according to Albany Police.
Officers pulled over Jacolvie Curry on East Oglethorpe Boulevard for a brake light issue. During the stop, police said they noticed a firearm on the driver’s side floorboard. Curry was immediately detained, and further investigation revealed the gun had been reported stolen.

Curry is charged with trafficking methamphetamine and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
Albany Police Chief Michael Persley said the case carries a broader message about the consequences of drug activity.
“So the drug game, the drug activity. Uh, there is no there’s no successful ending to it. Here’s the biggest message. If you can make money quick, it’s going to leave you quick. And it has some serious consequences that come with it,” Persley said.
Officials said the case has been turned over to the Special Investigative Unit for further investigation.
