ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) — A lottery player in South Georgia is starting the week a million dollars richer after matching all five white-ball numbers in Saturday’s Powerball drawing.

According to officials from the Georgia Lottery Corporation, the winning $1 million ticket was purchased at the Marathon Mart located at 402 N. Westover Blvd. in Albany.

The winning numbers for the Aug. 29 drawing were not the only source of excitement for Georgia players this weekend.

Macon Player Snags $50,000

Another ticket matched four of the five white-ball numbers plus the Powerball to win a $50,000 prize. That ticket was sold in Macon at Mike Food Mart, 6398 Zebulon Road.

Players will have another chance to win soon, as the jackpot for the next Powerball drawing on Monday, Aug. 31, is an estimated $131 million.

Mobile App and Store Wins Sweep the State

Multiple other high-tier winning tickets were sold over the weekend:

• Powder Springs: A Quick Win player hit a $91,407 jackpot playing Triple Win Quick Win on Saturday, Aug. 29, at Welcome Foods (4148 Marietta Street).
• Acworth: A resident won $52,524 playing Hit $500 Quick Win on the Georgia Lottery mobile app on Sunday, Aug. 30.
• Valdosta: A resident won $10,000 on Saturday, Aug. 29, playing the Viking Gold Diggi Game on the mobile app.
• Pooler: Another mobile app player won $10,000 on Sunday, Aug. 30, playing the Liberty Luck Diggi Game.
• Hampton: A ticket purchased at Panhandle Food Mart (1475 McDonough Road) won the $10,000 top prize in Sunday’s Georgia FIVE midday drawing.
• Savannah: A ticket purchased at Unique Food and Pharmacy (634 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.) matched four white balls and the Millionaire Ball in Sunday’s Millionaire for Life drawing to win $7,500.
• Fairburn: Another Millionaire for Life ticket won $7,500 in Friday’s drawing after being purchased at Sunoco (52 NW Broad Street).

As with all Georgia Lottery games, the net proceeds from these sales support educational initiatives in the state of Georgia, including the HOPE Scholarship and statewide voluntary Pre-K programs.
