Description

VALDOSTA, Ga. (WALB) – One person has been arrested in connection to an armed robbery and kidnapping case from June, though detectives say additional suspects are still being sought.

According to VPD, the 21-year-old victim was assaulted, forced to withdraw money from ATMs, and later escaped after being attacked. Detectives reviewed surveillance footage and identified 18-year-old Kayla Wakefield as one of the suspects.

Wakefield was arrested on Aug. 13 and charged with two counts of aggravated assault, armed robbery, and kidnapping. She is being held at the Lowndes County Jail.

The investigation is ongoing, and more arrests are expected. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Valdosta Police Department.
