ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - An elementary school student was hit by a vehicle in southwest Atlanta, according to Atlanta Public Schools.
It happened at 2836 Springdale Road SW, which is the listed address for Solomon’s Temple Foundation, a homeless shelter for women and children.
“A Hutchinson Elementary School student was struck by a vehicle as the student exited the school bus. The bus’s flashers were on, and the stop arm was out when the student was struck,” an APS spokesperson said in a statement. “Counselors from the Atlanta Public Schools Student Services Team will be available at the school to speak with those students who witnessed the accident to help them process their feelings and emotions.”
Police said the juvenile, who has not been identified, had non-life-threatening injuries.
The school district said the driver of the vehicle was detained by Atlanta police.
