DOUGLAS, Ga. (WALB) - The Coffee County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about a phone scam circulating in the area.
The sheriff’s office says they have received reports of residents being called by scammers claiming to be a “Sergeant Dykes” with the agency. These scammers will ask you to pay in order to avoid being arrested.
The sheriff’s office says these calls are false and they will never call you and ask for payment or personal information. If you receive one of these calls, hang up immediately.
