SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — Convicted killer Lori Vallow Daybell spoke for the first time since her sentencing in a chilling jailhouse interview released by East Idaho News reporter Nate Eaton.
Daybell is currently serving multiple life sentences for the murders of her children, 16-year-old Tylee Ryan and 7-year-old Joshua "JJ" Vallow. Her case, which has extensive ties to Utah, also connects to several other suspicious deaths involving her now-husband Chad Daybell, who is on death row.
The 40-minute interview was recorded last Thursday, on Daybell's 52nd birthday, at Estrella Jail in Arizona. In the video, Eaton questions her directly about the horrific crimes.
"Your children were found dead in Chad’s backyard. That’s not wrong. Tylee was chopped up and burned," Eaton said.
"No, that is all mixed up ... those facts, they are wrapped around a whole lot of untruths," Daybell responded.

When pressed about a theory she once shared — that her daughter Tylee killed JJ and then committed suicide — Eaton challenged her on the timeline.
"So if Tylee killed JJ and then felt bad and committed suicide, how did she die first?"
"She didn’t. That’s part of their whole fake narrative," Daybell said, adding, "I’m not here to change anyone’s minds."
She denied involvement in the death of her brother, Alex Cox, who also played a significant role in the case, saying, "We were very surprised."
Throughout the conversation, Daybell continued to reference her religious beliefs, including listening to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' General Conference and saying church leaders urge followers to "prepare."
Despite her conviction and the mounting evidence, Daybell insisted:
"I’ve never hurt anyone in my whole entire life."
Eaton asked how she went from being described as a loving mother to sitting in jail for murder.
"God put me here for his purpose," she said.
Daybell also revealed that she is currently writing a book to tell her side of the story — a version in which she extensively blames her daughter Tylee.
She is scheduled to be sentenced next for her role in a separate case — involving conspiracy to murder of her fourth husband, Charles Vallow, and her former nephew-in-law — on July 25.
