CORDELE — More than 60 athletes in South Georgia signed letters of intent over the past two days, with the trend continuing Friday in Cordele.
Jordan Fox signed his letter of intent to Toledo, where he will join the MAAC Conference program. The linebacker said his journey came with doubt about his size, but he used that doubt as motivation.
“It feels great. I’ve always been doubted my whole life,” Fox said. “I’ve always been the undersize linebacker. I’ve always been the little linebacker. But I showed them. I proved my point.”
Fox said he chose Toledo because of his relationship with the coaching staff.
“I chose Toledo because the coach itself was at Mercer first,” Fox said. “But then they’ve been believing me since my 10th grade year. Been watching my friends for 10th grade years. So ever since then I feel like that was home and the place to be.”
The first team all-region linebacker led the Cougars in tackles this season. When asked about his approach when he arrives on campus, Fox kept it simple.
“Get ready to work. Get ready to work. Earn my spot,” Fox said.
