ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) — Sumter County native and author Marcus A. Johnson joined Dialogue on Sunday, June 28, to discuss his tribute to the Valdosta State football team and his grandmother’s legacy.

Johnson, a Sumter County native, chronicled his time on the Valdosta State football team in a book that pays tribute to the program and his grandmother’s legacy. The 1994 Valdosta State football team is credited with changing the game, according to Johnson.
Greg Jackson, founder of the Unity Sports League, also appeared on the June 28 episode to discuss the origins of the league and how community members can get involved.

Jackson talked about the league’s efforts to bring unity to the community and outlined ways people can join.
