Description
GEORGIA (WALB) - If you’re waiting for your Georgia surplus tax refund check? You’re not alone. In case you didn’t know, if you owe money to the state, your refund will be offset. That includes delinquent taxes and child support.
As of this Tuesday morning, the Department has issued over $612 million in refunds to Georgia taxpayers out of the $1.2 billion allocated in the state budget.
More refunds will be issued in the days and weeks to come for those who filed by May 1st. As a reminder, individuals who selected to file an extension through October will not get their refund until after their tax return is received and processed.
The rebate amounts are:
- $250 for individuals filing as single or married filing separately
- $375 for those filing as head of household
- $500 for couples filing jointly
FAQs for the surplus refund can be found here.
