ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - Just hours after several tornado warnings were issued across South Georgia on Monday, March 16, reports of damage came into WALB News 10.

The Crisp County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) announced Monday that they have already received reports of “trees down across several roadways in the county.” The announcement came after several tornado warnings were issued across South Georgia counties on March 16.

CCSO said their crews and public safety partners are working to assess any damage and respond to these hazards “as quickly as possible.” They also asked that residents use caution and be prepared to slow down or find an alternate route.

The National Weather Service (NWS) also reported a tree down on Highway 216 in Calhoun County, near Turman Road around 6:50 a.m.

High Winds

The NWS recorded strong wind gusts in Camilla, Nashville, and Lowndes County Monday morning.

There are also reports of blown transformers in Tift County due to high winds.

The NWS reported downed power lines on S.R. 65 in both directions of Rawson Circle in Pelham.

Hail

One-inch sized hail was reported in Allenville/Berrien County around 5:50 a.m. Monday.

Standing Water

The Cordele Police Department (CPD) alerted residents and drivers about standing water at 15th Avenue and 7th Street on Monday morning. They asked that people in South Georgia limit travel due to trees, limbs, debris, and standing water.
