BEN HILL COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) - A joint operation between the Ben Hill County Sheriff’s Office and the Fitzgerald Police Department resulted in the arrest of a wanted individual and the seizure of drugs and a firearm .

According to BCSO, on February 18, 2026, the Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Division and Uniform Patrol Division, with assistance from Fitzgerald Police, executed a search warrant at a residence in the 200 block of West Orange Street. The home had been identified as part of ongoing investigations conducted by the Special Operations Division.

During the search, investigators recovered one firearm, at around one-half ounce of a methamphetamine and fentanyl mixture, 3.5 grams of marijuana, and multiple items commonly used for the weighing, packaging, distribution, and use of controlled substances.

Authorities say the investigation remains ongoing.

The Ben Hill County Sheriff’s Office emphasized its continued commitment to serving and protecting the citizens of Ben Hill County. Officials also noted that combating illegal drug activity is a shared responsibility within the community.
