DECATUR COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) - According to Ashley Medley Abby’s mother Abby has been diagnosed with central core myopathy, a rare genetic muscle disease that causes significant muscle weakness and affects mobility.

As Abby grows, transferring her safely between her bed, wheelchair and other areas of the home has become increasingly difficult.

Her family is raising money for an in-ceiling Hoyer lift system, which would help caregivers move Abby safely while reducing the physical strain on both Abby and those caring for her. The lift would allow for smoother transfers throughout the home and help improve her comfort and quality of life.

The fundraiser states that the equipment would provide greater independence and dignity for Abby while helping her family continue to meet her daily needs safely.

The family says any donation, no matter the amount, will help them move closer to their goal of installing the lift system.
