ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) – WALB has issued a First Alert Weather Day from Monday night through Tuesday morning (Dec. 15–16) as an Arctic blast brings dangerously cold temperatures and hard freeze conditions to South Georgia.
Forecasters say temperatures will plunge well below freezing overnight, with wind chills dropping to dangerously low levels, especially during the late-night and early-morning hours.
These conditions pose a serious risk to people, pets, plants, and exposed pipes.
WALB has issued a First Alert Weather Day from Monday night through Tuesday morning.Residents are urged to take precautions now by checking on elderly neighbors, bringing pets indoors, protecting sensitive plants, and insulating or dripping pipes to prevent freezing. Prolonged exposure to extreme cold can be dangerous, even for short periods.
