DOUGLAS, Ga. (WALB) — A Coffee County Jail inmate was reportedly found unresponsive Friday, May 8, while on a work detail, according to the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO).

Officials said the inmate, whose identity was not released, died after first responders rendered aid at the scene. Their family has reportedly been notified.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) was requested to investigate the death, CCSO said.

CCSO said that further information would not be released pending the GBI’s investigation.
