BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — In less than a week, Bryan Kohberger, the man who pleaded guilty to murdering four University of Idaho students, learns his sentence. On Thursday morning, a hearing will be held regarding a gag order keeping everyone involved in the case quiet.

Since Kohberger is not going to trial, regional and national media want the judge to lift the gag order.

Kohberger accepted a guilty plea to avoid the death penalty and a trial two weeks ago. If the judge approves the request, everyone involved can begin discussing the case.

Kohberger pleaded guilty to stabbing four friends, Ethan Chapin, Xana Kernodle, Madison Mogen and Kaylee Goncalves, to death in November 2022 inside a Moscow home. His deal comes with four consecutive life sentences plus ten years without the possibility of parole or appeal.
