Description

VALDOSTA, Ga. (WALB) - A man is facing several felony charges after stabbing his stepfather and giving Valdosta Police (VPD) officers false statements, according to police.

The stabbing happened at The Grand at Lake Sheri Apartments in Valdosta on Sept. 25. Police officers were called to the apartments at around 9:30 p.m. after a woman reported to 911 that her husband was bleeding and unresponsive, VPD said.

When officers arrived, they found a 46-year-old man lying on the floor bleeding from several areas on his torso, police say.

Officers began administering first aid until Valdosta firefighters and South Georgia Medical Center EMS arrived. The victim was taken to the hospital for his injuries, according to police.

Police say officers received several different stories about what led to the victim’s injuries and the injuries not matching what officers had been told. This led to the occupants of the residence being detained.

According to police, an investigation found that the victim and his stepson, Jvonni Roblejo, 24, were involved in an altercation inside the apartment. During the altercation, Roblejo stabbed the victim numerous times in his torso with a knife.

Roblejo, who was already detained, was arrested and taken to Lowndes County Jail, according to VPD.

VPD said he is being charged with:

  • Aggravated assault - felony
  • Aggravated battery - felony
  • Possession of a knife during the commission of a felony - felony

The victim is currently listed in critical condition, police say.

The investigation is active and ongoing.

“This is outstanding work by our staff. When the responding officers recognized that the injuries did not match any of the stories they had been provided, they immediately secured the scene for our detectives and crime scene personnel to complete the investigation. Our staff had already had a long and stressful day, but they were able to put another previous major incident aside, responding and working tirelessly to help this victim receive justice.”
