WRIGHTSVILLE, Ga. (WGXA) — A 36-year-old man was arrested after he was suspected of grooming a 15-year-old amid a domestic dispute in Johnson County.

According to the Johnson County Sheriff's Office (JCSO), on Saturday night, investigators received a tip that Martel Oneal was having inappropriate contact with a 15-year-old juvenile after receiving a 911 call about a domestic dispute.

After gathering "digital evidence" and interviews with the victim and Oneal, he admitted that he made verbal statements about "physical contact" and emotional connection with the minor.

JCSO says there was "no sexual physical contact," but the suspect "admitted to the allegations" during the interview with investigators.

Oneal was formally arrested on Sunday and charged with attempting to seduce, solicit, lure, or groom a minor for sexual exploitation.

Sheriff Greg Rowland stated the following in the release:

"The safety and well-being of our children is a top priority of the Johnson County Sheriff's Office. Any behavior or communication that endangers or exploits out youth will be met with swift and firm action. I want to personally commend my deputies and investigators for their dilgence in responding, reporting, and handling this senstive matter with professionalism and care."

JCSO says the incident is still under investigation, and more details will be released as they become available.
