COLQUITT, Ga. (WALB) — Just three weeks after getting married, a southwest Georgia man is now fighting for his life following a devastating farm accident.
Family members say Hilton Lane, owner of Bud’s Blue Collar Grill, was critically injured on Sunday, March 29, when a tractor overturned and crushed him. He is currently being treated in the intensive care unit at a Dothan, Alabama hospital.
Lane and his wife, Keslie, got married about three weeks ago, according to family members.

Lane was able to get to his phone while pinned under the tractor and call his wife, Keslie, to let her know what had happened so she could get help. His cousin, Joshua Suggs, said the call ended and Lane’s phone died.
Community response
Loved ones rushed to be by the Lanes’ side as Hilton was taken to the hospital in Dothan, Alabama.
The next day, his restaurant, Bud’s Blue Collar Grill, closed its doors. Friends, family and customers gathered for a circle of prayer, asking for healing for Lane.
“It was nothing short of amazing. The time frame of just an hour and a half and everybody dropping what they’re doing on a Monday in the middle of the day to come do something that they believed in, which was Hilton. And that was amazing. I think it’s a direct reflection of who he is and how he’s touched lives,” Suggs said.
Lane remains in the hospital. Family members say he is stable but still undergoing procedures as his recovery continues.
The restaurant reopened on Wednesday, April 1, and has seen a steady flow of customers returning. It is located at 201 Spring Street in Colquitt.
A donation fund has been established to help the couple cover Lane’s medical expenses. To donate and to learn more, click here.
