WORTH COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) - Jim Houston, Social Studies teacher at Worth County High School, passed away, according to a Facebook post from Worth County Schools.

Houston was in a car accident on Wednesday, April 1, and succumbed to his injuries, according to Sheriff Don Whitaker of the Worth County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Don Whitaker says that the crash occurred on Highway 300 near the GA-32 intersection. The Georgia State Patrol (GSP) said they found that the other driver involved was driving under the influence.
Sheriff Whitaker said Houston was a friend of his. He said he was a great guy, who everyone knew, making this a huge loss for the county. The sheriff said the community loved him, including the students he taught for years. He was a mentor to many.
