Description
MOULTIRE, Ga. (WALB) - Southern Regional Technical College (SRTC) cut the ribbon on a new hands-on training building in Moultrie, aiming to prepare students for in-demand skilled trade careers across Southwest Georgia.
College leaders say the new space is designed for programs where employers continue to need workers—regardless of how quickly technology changes the workplace.
‘High-demand programs’
Jim Glass, president of Southern Regional Technical College, said the building focuses on career paths with steady hiring needs.
“All the programs in this building are high-demand programs… Employers are looking for all the program graduates that will come through this building,” Glass said.
He said graduates are expected to move quickly into jobs after completing training.
“We look forward to our students coming here and seeing their future… and going out and getting a fantastic job… so they can change lives, not only for themselves, for their children, for their families,” Glass said.
Enrollment growth and job placement
Glass said SRTC has seen 11 consecutive semesters of record enrollment growth.
He also pointed to the college’s in-field placement rate.
“We’ve had 11 consecutive semesters of record enrollment growth… 96% of them go to work in-field,” Glass said.
Programs inside the new building
SRTC leaders say the new facility will house training programs including:
- Automotive
- Auto collision
- Welding
- Electrical
- HVAC
- Carpentry
- Diesel
College leaders say the goal is simple: help students build long-term stability by connecting them to careers that are already in demand in the region.
