ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - A 17-year-old girl is in recovery after she was shot at about 12:20 p.m. on Sept. 15, according to the Albany Police Department (APD).
The 17-year-old was taken to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. APD said the girl is in stable condition.
This comes after officials responded to Wild Pine Apartments, which is in the 600 block of Sands Drive, in reference to a shooting.
The apartment complex is less than a mile away from Albany State University’s East Campus and the Albany State University Police Department. The university was on lockdown after hearing initial reports of this incident. The lockdown was lifted at about 2 p.m.

APD confirmed that the victim in this incident was not a student at Albany State.
Police said that this incident is still under investigation. Anyone with further information is encouraged to contact APD at 229-431-2100 or 229-436-TIPS.
