Description

(Gray News) - Moderna and Merck say a new vaccine appears to prevent the recurrence of melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer.

The companies say the vaccine is for people who have had melanoma.

The vaccine, called Intismeran, is designed to be tailored to individual patients based on unique mutations within their tumors. In current studies, they are pairing it with Keytruda.

They cite Phase 3 trial results suggesting the vaccine can stop the disease from returning or spreading.

The companies say the vaccine is individualized.

It uses the same mRNA technology behind certain coronavirus vaccines.
