THOMASVILLE, Ga. (WCTV) – Hundreds of people came out Saturday for the annual Black History Parade and Celebration in Thomasville.
The parade traveled down Broad and Jackson Streets with a festival at the Ritz Amphitheatre following.
Betty Washington said she attends the parade every year. “I’m very excited to be able to come down to look at the history that we’re sharing with other people,” Washington said.
More news out of South Georgia:
Grand Marshals were Pastor Corey King and Lady Geneva Scott-King, who the city said were “recognized for their leadership and service within the community.”
Washington said she is thankful to see the annual tradition continue. “We need to carry this each and every year on. We need to know about our Black History,” she said.
There were more than 130 entries in this year’s parade, according to the City of Thomasville, which makes this year the biggest parade in event history.
