On Sept. 15, officials said that some of the larger logs in the woodchip fire on Evelyn Avenue in Albany are still smoldering.

The pile of pallets have already burned down, according to the Dougherty County Emergency Management Agency (EMA).

The Albany Fire Department and Georgia Forestry Commission said they plan to let the pile completely burn itself out.

The Forestry Commission said they will continue to monitor the piles and area for smoke.

They said smoke is not a problem on US-19 today, Sept. 15.
