Description
TYBEE ISLAND, Ga. (WTOC) - Firefighters rescued a cat that had been stuck in a palm tree on 14th Street for more than eight hours Wednesday afternoon.
Tybee Island Fire Rescue said at around 4:45 p.m. last Wednesday, a truck went to the area of 14th Street for a report of a cat that had been stuck in a palm tree since 8:00 a.m. that morning.
“That’s a long shift… especially for a cat," said Tybee Island Fire Rescue. “Upon arrival, crews positioned the truck and raised the aerial for a high-angle feline rescue. As firefighters made their first attempts, the cat demonstrated impressive agility by relocating to the opposite side of the tree… multiple times."
Crews said after some aerial repositioning, they successfully secured the cat.
“They brought it safely back to the ground with no injuries, just a bruised firefighter ego or two. The cat is safe, crews are back in service, and the palm tree has officially been placed off limits for future climbing operations. All in a day’s work,” wrote Tybee Island Fire Rescue.
