DOUGHERTY COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) - Two people are in custody after investigators say they burglarized a local convenience store twice this month, stealing lottery tickets during the latest break-in.
According to the Dougherty County Police Department, the Stop & Shop located at 700 Cordele Road was first burglarized on February 1 and again around 4:05 a.m. Monday. During the second incident, lottery tickets were taken from the business.
Investigators with the department’s Crime Suppression Team quickly developed leads and located two suspects who were allegedly attempting to cash in the stolen lottery tickets. Quenton Moore and Marshayni Lennear were arrested without incident.
Authorities say a third suspect has been identified and is expected to be taken into custody soon.
Police are also reviewing additional evidence to determine whether the suspects may be connected to other recent crimes in the area.
Investigators credit the use of the Flock Safety camera system along with extensive surveillance efforts for helping identify and locate the suspects.
“This is another example of how technology, combined with proactive police work, helps us quickly identify and apprehend individuals responsible for crimes in our community,” a department spokesperson said.
The investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges could be filed.
Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Dougherty County Police Department at 229-430-6600 or submit anonymous tips through Crime Stoppers.
