COFFEE COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) - Deputies with the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office arrested a parolee after responding to a vehicle-related incident.

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies responded to the incident in the area of Estlee Mercer Road and Peppercorn Road on Sunday, May 11.

Once on scene and investigating, deputies determined that Little Taft Roberson, 72, was the driver. Deputies found that Roberson had an active arrest warrant issued by the Georgia State Board of Pardons and Paroles.

In addition, the deputies report finding a pouch in Roberson’s possession containing multiple baggies of suspected controlled substances. A digital scale was also recovered from his vehicle.

Based on the evidence collected at the scene, Roberson has been formally charged under O.C.G.A. 16-13-30, which prohibits the purchase, possession, manufacture, distribution, or sale of controlled substances. This statute carries felony penalties upon conviction, with severity depending on the specific type and quantity of the substance involved.

Roberson was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Coffee County Pre-Trial Detention Center, where he remains in custody.
