BROOKS COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) — A Quitman man has been arrested by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation following an investigation into injuries to an infant.
A 20-year-old Quitman man was arrested on two counts of first-degree cruelty to children and two counts of aggravated assault and family violence, according to the GBI.
On May 27, the Brooks County Sheriff’s Office requested the GBI’s assistance in investigating an incident that involved a 7-week-old infant.
The 20-year-old and the child’s mother brought the child to the hospital, according to the GBI. The child was later transferred to another hospital in Tallahassee, Florida, for more testing.
Following the hospital’s test results, it was revealed that the child had multiple broken bones, GBI said.
The GBI and the Brooks County Sheriff’s Office arrested the 20-year-old on June 8 and booked him into the Brooks County Jail.
The investigation is ongoing, the GBI said. Stay with WALB as we learn more.
