Description
COLQUITT COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) — The Southwest Georgia Public Health District has issued a rabies alert in Colquitt County after a fox tested positive in the central part of the county.
Rabies is a deadly virus that affects mammals and is most often found in wildlife like raccoons, skunks, bats, and foxes.
Veterinarians urge residents to make sure dogs and cats are up to date on their rabies shots. They say never approach or play with wild animals or stray dogs and cats. If you see an animal acting strangely, call the authorities.
