MOULTRIE, Ga. (WALB) – The City of Moultrie has announced a temporary road closure set to begin Tuesday, May 27, impacting 26th Avenue SE between 5th Street SE and Veterans Parkway.

The closure will restrict “thru traffic”, meaning vehicles will not be able to travel between 5th Street SE and Veterans Parkway via 26th Avenue SE. The closure is due to a construction project to rebuild a drainage structure located between Pineland Apartments and Care Connect Pediatrics.

Access will still be available to residents, the YMCA, and church driveways within the closed area.

The project is expected to be completed by August 2, weather and site conditions permitting. Motorists are advised to plan alternate routes and follow posted detour signs during the construction period.

City officials thank the public for their patience and cooperation as they work to improve the local infrastructure.
