Description
GEORGIA (WALB) - The Healthy Florida First website released new information about the pesticide “Glyphosate” found in popular brands of bread.
Defining Glyphosate
The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) says the following regarding Glyphosate.
Glyphosate is a widely used herbicide that controls broadleaf weeds and grasses. It has been registered as a pesticide in the U.S. since 1974.”
Farmers, or individuals who grow crops, use Glyphosate because it is important for the production of fruits, vegetables, nuts, and glyphosate-resistant field crops such as corn and soybeans.
“It is effective at managing invasive and noxious weeds. In addition, glyphosate breaks down in the environment, can be used for no-till and low-till farming, which can reduce soil erosion, and facilitates integrated pest management.”
