Description
VALDOSTA, Ga. (WCTV) - Valdosta State University (VSU) partnered with Southern Regional Technical College (SRTC) in a new course articulation agreement for better transitions between schools for future South Georgia educators, according to a press release.
Under the agreement signed this week, SRTC graduates with an Associate of Science in Education can transfer more of their credits toward VSU’s Bachelor of Science in Education degree in Elementary Education. This means students will complete fewer courses at VSU and reach their bachelor’s degree faster.
Dr. William Cove, interim president of VSU said in a press release the new agreement creates more pathways.
More news out of South Georgia:
“Our university was founded as a teacher training school, and 120 years later we continue to recognize the critical role we play in addressing the teacher shortage, strengthening schools, supporting families, and opening doors of opportunity for students of all ages across our region,” Cove said.
President of SRTC Jim Glass said the agreement allows for seamless transitions.
“By partnering with Valdosta State University, we are ensuring that students can start at Southern Regional Technical College and seamlessly transition to earn their bachelor’s degree, all while staying close to home and serving the communities that need excellent teachers most,” Glass said.
