SAFETY ALERT (WALB) - Multiple Southwest Georgia law enforcement agencies are warning residents to be aware of a scam circulating.
Residents in counties such as Lee, Baker, Ben Hill, and more have reported receiving scam texts claiming to be from the Georgia Department of Driver Services.

The message will claim that you have an outstanding traffic violation. The message will also state that immediate payment is required, or your license may be suspended or your registration cancelled.
What should you do if you receive this text?
If you receive this scam message, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office said you should never click any links in the text.
Don’t respond to the message or provide any personal information.
If you believe you have already fallen victim to this scam, contact your bank and report it. You should also contact your local law enforcement agency and report it there as well.
