CORDELE, Ga. (WALB) - A man was arrested and charged after a traffic stop on I-75 revealed drugs in a vehicle with juveniles, according to the Crisp County Sheriff’s Office.

On Thursday, April 2, a deputy conducted a traffic stop on a silver Toyota near mile marker 104 on I-75. Kingston Smith was driving 92 miles per hour in a 70 mile per hour zone, according to the sheriff’s office.

The sheriff’s office said the deputy detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and conducted a probable cause search.

The search resulted in the discovery of a large quantity of marijuana packaged in multiple small vacuum-sealed bags consistent with distribution, according to the sheriff’s office.

Juveniles were in the vehicle at the time of the stop, according to the sheriff’s office.

The sheriff’s office is urging parents to be aware of how some drugs are being packaged.

Smith was transported to the Crisp County Sheriff’s Office and charged with possession of marijuana and speeding in excess of maximum limits.
