Sheriff Paulk said a citizen called him shortly after 5 p.m. Thursday to report seeing Rogers and Hunter on Highway 125 near mile marker 15. When Berrien County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) deputies responded, the two suspects reportedly ran into the woods off of Bennie Griner Road.

The sheriff said BCSO is actively working with the Department of Corrections, Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office, Valdosta Police Department and Georgia State Patrol (GSP) to locate the suspects. A K-9 unit, drones and GSP aviation are searching the area, Sheriff Paulk said.

Sheriff Paulk urged anyone in the area to be cautious, as the suspects may be dangerous.

“I want to urge all our citizens in the area to lock all doors and take the keys out of any vehicles and to please call 911 if for any reason they feel concerned,” Sheriff Paulk said. “This duo is considered armed and dangerous.”
