GRADY COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) - Authorities are investigating a crash involving a school bus and an SUV in Grady County early this morning.

According to the Grady County School District’s Facebook page, the crash happened just before 7 a.m., at the intersection of Highway 112 and U.S. 84 West.

Preliminary details from Georgia State Patrol (GSP), indicate the school bus attempted to turn left onto SR 38/U.S. 84 West and failed to yield to a westbound Chevrolet Tahoe approaching the intersection. The front of the Chevrolet then struck the left rear of the school bus.

Following the collision, the Chevrolet traveled into the median and came to an uncontrolled stop. The school bus also came to rest in the median, where it made a controlled stop.

The district says one student was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. All other students were checked, cleared, and transported on to school. Officials also reported minor injuries to the driver of the Chevrolet.

The Grady County School District thanked Grady County and City of Cairo emergency crews for their quick response to the scene. The crash remains under active investigation.
