THOMAS COUNTY, Ga. (WCTV) - A teen from Quitman has died following a single-vehicle crash on Sunday morning, according to Thomas County Sheriff Tim Watkins.

The sheriff said a TCSO deputy responded to the incident at about 8 a.m. Sunday on Georgia Highway 188 near the intersection of Airline Road. The teen was driving a Chevy Tahoe and was pronounced dead at the scene.

At the time, authorities suspected that the Quitman teen was 18 years old.

However, the coroner’s office confirmed to WCTV Monday morning that the teen was 17 years old.

It is currently unclear what events led to the incident. The Georgia State Patrol is investigating.
