THOMASVILLE, Ga. (WALB) — The Thomas County Democratic Party is hosting its first anti-Flock rally Saturday, Sept. 26, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Hot Spot in Thomasville.

The rally opposes the use of Flock cameras, AI-powered license plate readers that allow police to track people over time.

“The widespread backlash against AI-powered license plate readers, which allow police to track people over time, is becoming more of a political issue as the midterm elections approach. Florida has made headway- state road cameras are in the process of coming down,” the party said.

According to Democratic candidate for House District 173 Adam Chitwood, there are more than 40 flock cameras in Thomas County right now, with the majority of them located in Thomasville.

“When I’ve been around in the community talking to people about these flock cameras, it creates a lot of unrest. We don’t want unwanted surveillance. We don’t want misuse of this technology. So let’s just say let’s get the flock out of Thomasville,” said Chitwood.
